As kid already early attracted towards nature by beautiful wildlife paintings of Rien Poortvliet. By bird watching and fishing he learned a lot about the Dutch flora and fauna. Both activities were in 2001 substituted by nature photography and scuba diving.

Photography and nature have always had a great attraction to me, combining both passions was a logical step. To me it is a hobby, an addiction, probably an ancient hunting desire buried deep in me. Within photography I have no specialisation. I am the opportunist who hikes through nature and takes pictures of things that come along. I promised myself to work more targeted and maybe I succeed. I've specialised in photographing butterflies and other insects. Not because I don't like the other aspects of nature but simply because of the amount of time it takes to do something well. A beautiful landscapes however can not be passed without making a photograph of it.

I am an enthusiastic amateur entomologist and have spent a lot of my time developing my photographic skills to record insect life cycles. My main focus is on the early stages of the life cycle of so called macro Lepidoptera. To obtain more knowlegde about the biology and ecology of these insects I rear a lot of species from the egg-stage. I am quite often in the field collecting moths, eggs, caterpillars and pupae. The Veluwe is my favourite area. I have contact with a lot of other entomologists in Europe, both professionals and amateurs. My challenge is to get decent pictures of all stages of the life cycle of Dutch moths. Besides the Lepidoptera themselves I get more and more interested in the associated parasitoids, especially the parasictic wasps.

Hi, My name is Karl Van Ginderdeuren. A few years ago I finished my biology studies and I'm currently working as a marine biologist. As with everybody else on this website, I'm really into wildlife and nature photography.

The nature photography virus got a very strong hold on me during a 4 week travel through South Africa and Namibia in 2003. Since then, it has been my greatest passion in life and I try to spend as much time as possible in the field with my camera.

Looking at the wonders of nature and being fascinated by the sometimes magnificent lights that illuminate them, i just had to become a nature photographer. Seeing the dramatic changes of our planet, i believe in using strong images to show people what a beauty we are about to lose. Preservation and education by looking thru a lens.

Born in Rotterdam on september the 16th 1952. Photography is a passion for more than 30 years.

I've always been interested in nature. I'm a photographer since 2000. It started for me with fast registration shots but developed to a professionals hobby.

A nature photographer passionated by clouds and skies, insects, all kinds of fungi, and abstraction.
